Sorare is a French unicorn company that is well-known for its fantasy sports NFT cards. The CEO of Sorare recently outlined the company’s future ambitions and claimed that a mobile app will be available before the end of the year.
According to sources, Sorare appears to have no plans to discontinue, with CEO and co-founder Nicolas Julia outlining the company’s future goals for the well-known fantasy sports NFT card brand.
The release of Sorare’s mobile app by the end of the year, which will enable users to buy and sell their NFT cards through mobile, does indeed feature on the list.
In addition, Julia mentioned a rise in genuine “experiences” as rewards, saying the following:
“We want to continue bridging the physical and digital worlds by offering experiences, like flying to an away match with AC Milan or playing against Zidane’s team if you win a competition.”
Beyond these first two objectives, Julia also hopes to add more sports in the future. Tennis and hockey seem like interesting prospects, she says. This should lead to a rise in the 300 organizations and clubs that presently exist, including the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A with 14 teams, MLS, and NBA.
Sorare NFT and the French unicorn startup’s explosive growth
Given its fast growth, the French blockchain gaming firm might be considered a true unicorn.
Indeed, SoftBank’s Vision Fund 2 led the most recent Series B investment round in July 2021, which totaled $680 million and increased Sorare’s worth to $4.3 billion. Sorare was launched in 2018.
Additionally, Serena Williams, Leo Messi, and Kylian Mbappé are among the athletes who have invested in Sorare. In addition, Sorare now has more than 5 million members, customers, and gamers.
Mbappé specifically bought a stake in Sorare in June 2022 as his first investment in the Web3 sector, and he received his lone NFT card from a specific “Team Bamby” for roughly 416,000 euros.
Sorare, an organization, welcomed Lionel Messi, a seven-time Ballon d’Or winner, as its ambassador in November last year.
Blockchain-based fantasy basketball and joint efforts with the NBA and NBPA
As expected, Sorare now provides the game with its NFT cards for basketball, baseball, and other sports in addition to soccer.
A multi-year agreement between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) saw the launch of fantasy basketball in September 2022.
Since then, the blockchain-based game has also given fans the option to engage with the basketball community and compete with other fans through an NFT-based fantasy game experience.
The collaboration has made it possible for Sorare to incorporate the league’s and the NBA teams’ official logos into its goods.
