As part of the company’s expansion into the Web3 space, Starbucks is working on implementing an NFT airdrop for participants of its Odyssey rewards program.
Starbucks informed Odyssey members in an email obtained by Blockworks that users will need to fulfill particular requirements in order to be qualified for a supposedly “limited-edition stamp” from the coffee shop juggernaut.
First, only US citizens are eligible for the airdrop. Second, each participant must be a subscriber to Starbucks Rewards and registered on the waitlisted Web3 rewards program, StarbucksOdyssey. The program was first made available to a small group of people in September 2022 when it was still in development.
A participant must first be an Odyssey member, have successfully completed two “journeys,” and possess at least one limited-edition NFT stamp. Users can complete journeys, which are tasks, to get stamps with bonus points. Going to a different Starbucks location or attempting a new drink are two examples of journeys, a former Starbucks executive told Blockworks in December.
Users will be eligible for the airdrop if they complete all of these requirements by the company’s deadline, per the rules of the StarbucksOdyssey airdrop.
You “are not guaranteed a Stamp of your choosing […] you will receive a Stamp as determined by Starbucks in its sole discretion,” the terms add.
Starbucks has continued to express interest in the digital ownership space. The “First Store” NFTs were published last month, and many of the collectibles in the set feature the original, much more modest Starbucks establishment, which opened in downtown Seattle back in 1971.
The First Store collection generated the most sales volume on NFT marketplace Nifty Gateway during the past 24 hours. Starbucks has been contacted by Blockworks on the forthcoming airdrop.
