Next Tech Girls and REGnosys encourage STEM careers and gender equality in tech. Join their IT inclusion efforts.
Next Tech Girls, a social business working to increase the representation of women in the IT industry, has teamed with regtech REGnosys in an effort to raise awareness of STEM careers and inspire girls to consider a career in regtech. According to PwC, girls are less likely than boys to study STEM topics in school (64% vs. 83%). Only 3% of women choose a tech career as their first choice, according to the data, which also demonstrates that this gender imbalance trend persists at the university level and in the workplace. This is five times less than the 15% of males who choose it as their first preference. Lack of knowledge about what it entails to operate in the field is one factor in this. Another issue is that girls aren’t urged to pursue careers in technology.
As a result, only 26% of people employed in the IT sector are women. Next Tech Girls, however, is not just standing by. Since 2016, the organization has given females in the UK over 3,000 opportunities for tech-related work experience. Additionally, it tries to involve those from disadvantaged backgrounds or racial or cultural minorities. As a result, 96% of placement participants have chosen a profession in technology.
“Partnering with REGnosys represents another crucial milestone in our mission of breaking down barriers for girls and young women to embark on a career in tech.”

Regtech impact
Every fintech sector needs to reevaluate what it can do to address gender disparities, and REGnosys is doing just that in the regtech space. The company has grown the number of women from zero to four since the beginning of 2022, leading by example. But it doesn’t end there. REGnosys hopes to provide access for girls and young women to professions in technology by collaborating with Next Tech Girls.
Leo Labeis, CEO and Founder of REGnosys, said on the collaboration: “It is crucial to accept the unpleasant truths about the topic of gender imbalance in the computer business in order to address the issue’s root causes.
It has never been simple for a tiny digital start-up to provide the kinds of benefits that are crucial for luring and keeping women employees. However, we are delighted to have made significant progress toward more equitable gender representation by, among other things, proactively working with recruiters to communicate our hiring push and putting a referral scheme in place. Joining forces with Next Tech Girls will help REGnosys along the way as we work to solidify and support our long-term DEI effort.
“Reflects the needs and perspectives of everyone in society”
“Over the past year, we’ve gone from strength to strength in inspiring the next generation of women in tech, organizing placements for over 100 girls across the UK and engaging more than 2,500 through our online events, which were launched last October,” said Emily Hall-Strutt, director of Next-Tech Girls.
“Our collaboration with REGnosys marks yet another significant step in our mission to remove obstacles that prevent young women and girls from pursuing careers in technology. We’re thrilled to be collaborating with REGnosys in establishing a culture where technology represents the needs and viewpoints of everyone in society as we strive to broaden our impact throughout the remainder of 2023 and beyond.
