Explore Dubai’s Emirati Training Academy, part of ‘Create Apps in Dubai’, which teaches UAE citizens mobile app development and digital business.
The Emirati Training Academy is a training program launched by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, a division of Dubai Chambers, with the goal of fostering local digital skills.
The Emirati Training Academy is a key component of the ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ initiative, which aims to provide UAE citizens of all ages from any of the seven emirates with the abilities and know-how necessary for a lucrative career in mobile application development. This program aims to improve Emiratis’ skills and encourage their potential to start their own businesses.
Create Apps in Dubai, an initiative led by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, aims to teach over 1,000 Emiratis the fundamentals of coding, mobile app development, and business strategies. The ambitious objective of the program is to support 100 new national projects for cutting-edge application development over the next two years while tripling the number of app developers in Dubai by 2025.
Vice President of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy Saeed AlGergawi stated, “The launch of the Emirati Training Academy represents another significant milestone in our journey to position the emirate as one of the world’s most agile and diversified technology-enabled digital hubs.”
The course
Nine online courses make up the academy’s foundational phase, which gives members the freedom to learn at their own speed. The extensive six-week courses cover a wide range of commercial, technical, and creative skills, including app marketing, Android mobile design and usability, an introduction to HTML and CSS, fast prototyping, app monetisation, and UX design for mobile developers. Starting in October are advanced classes.
In order to encourage Emirati talent to contribute to the realization of the nation’s digital goal, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, established “Create Apps in Dubai” earlier this year.
Following a number of successful events and activations held since the initiative’s start, the Emirati Training Academy has been unveiled. These occasions include the “Design Thinking Hackathon,” which brought together over 100 young Emiratis to discuss app development issues and methods for realizing their company ideas. The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy has also held interactive workshops to encourage the next generation of digital talent in association with significant partners.
The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy has also released an educational infographic outlining the benefits of cutting-edge no-code platforms in association with the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence Office. By providing knowledge about no-code platforms, which allow people without programming experience to create their own apps, this site intends to remove entry barriers into jobs in app development.
