The Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA), which was founded in 2002, is an integrated regulatory body that unifies the oversight of all important providers and operations under a single roof. It makes “One-Stop-Shopping” possible, allowing all government procedures to be handled under one roof.
The FMA is in charge of policing and regulating the financial services sector in Austria. Additionally, it keeps an eye on and regulates the various financial players and institutions (micro supervision).
The watchdog represents Austria as a financial market by participating in numerous international groups, mainly European ones, to develop common supervisory requirements.
