Explore NEP’s AI reports shaping the UAE’s future, envisioning a $320 billion boost to the economy by 2030.
The National Experts Programme (NEP) has released 13 reports authored by its participants that focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and the significance of embracing its technologies to help address challenges and accelerate growth in the UAE’s key national sectors. It is projected that AI could contribute $320 billion to the Middle East economy in 2030.
The comprehensive reports centre on the potential disruption and advancement of strategically significant sectors for the growth of the United Arab Emirates using developing artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. NEP 3.0 participants analyse the ways in which their particular sectors may effectively utilise these technologies. Through interesting seminars and activities, the participants in NEP’s “AI Journey” got an understanding of AI.
Mohamed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), Abu Dhabi’s specialised AI university, assisted in providing the participants with essential AI knowledge by setting up a two-day visit to the school where they witnessed the advancements and uses of AI.
Economic development, health and well-being, policy and government services, community development and social services, mobility and logistics, education, tourism and hospitality, culture, food and water security, and advanced sciences and research are among the themes covered in the reports that are strategically important to the United Arab Emirates.
Moreover the reports cover a variety of subjects, including: how AI can be applied to wildlife ecology, including marine research and conservation; how AI can alter the dynamics of the space industry to address domestic and global issues; and how AI can strengthen microgrids and transform the electricity market.
The claims coincide with the UAE’s increased attempts to adopt cutting-edge technologies, with government agencies utilising AI in critical areas and staying up to date with technological developments.
Presenting “a fresh viewpoint from tomorrow’s leaders”
“At a time when AI is already transforming every industry and is developing rapidly, it is imperative to be one step ahead and understand the impact these advanced technologies can have on our future and how they can affect the way we work or live,” said Ahmed Talib Al Shamsi, director of the National Experts Programme.
As a result, the NEP 3.0 curriculum was thoughtfully designed to incorporate AI into the learning process, giving the nation’s future leaders the chance to deepen their comprehension and pick the brains of experts during the course of the programme.
“These papers reflect great insight on a wide range of vital areas such as space, transport, and health, exploring the meaningful role that AI can play on these sectors. They do this by applying their own learnings to their AI reports.”
“These AI reports not only offer a fresh perspective from tomorrow’s leaders, but their expertise offers a fresh approach of how day-to-day operations can be enhanced in the various sectors,” the statement reads. “The UAE continues its efforts to build and advance its knowledge-based economy.”
NEP was founded in 2019 and has since assisted 61 Emirati specialists in 43 areas to advance their knowledge, sharpen their leadership abilities, and participate in critical national projects.
