PayPal taps Suzan Kereere for Global Markets President, driving innovation with ‘Quantum Leap’ and navigating a leadership transition.
In a strategic move to strengthen its global presence and drive growth, PayPal Holdings, Inc. has appointed Suzan Kereere as its new President of Global Markets, effective January 1, 2024. Kereere, currently serving as Fiserv’s head of Global Business Solutions, brings over 30 years of extensive experience in leading global payments and technology platforms.
Alex Chriss, PayPal’s President and CEO, expressed his enthusiasm about Kereere’s appointment, highlighting her successful track record in leading transformation, sales, and customer initiatives at Fortune 100 companies. He emphasized Kereere’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace culture and maximizing value for customers, traits that align with PayPal’s core values.
Kereere’s role will encompass end-to-end accountability for overseeing PayPal’s local businesses and growth strategies worldwide. This includes managing the global sales and distribution of PayPal’s products and services, solidifying the company’s position as a leading digital payment partner for businesses and consumers globally.
Leadership Transition

The announcement comes amid PayPal’s ambitious project, “Quantum Leap,” aimed at enhancing the checkout experience and competing with rivals like Stripe and Apple Pay. This initiative seeks to streamline the checkout process, revamp the consumer app, and expedite integration for merchants.
Additionally, the leadership transition involves the departure of Peggy Alford, an 11-year PayPal veteran and Executive Vice President for Global Sales and Merchant Services. Alford, who made meaningful contributions through various senior leadership roles, will leave the company in January.
As PayPal focuses on optimizing its end-to-end consumer experience, Chriss highlighted the significance of the checkout process, stating that it is the “end-to-end consumer experience with checkout at the center that will bring value to consumers with every single purchase.” The appointment of Kereere and the ongoing initiatives reflect PayPal’s commitment to innovation and growth in the ever-evolving digital payments landscape.
