Adidas, a German urban and sportswear company, follows Nike into the futuristic sneaker industry by redesigning a traditional shoe style. In the new Adidas Campus 00s, a talented surrealist artist combines reality and virtuality.
Like its rival Nike, German urban and sports wear behemoth Adidas enters the futuristic sneaker market by recreating a vintage shoe design. An innovative approach to the Adidas Campus 00s has been presented by a young surrealist artist who aspires to combine the actual and the virtual worlds.
Campus 2000s and Realities Fused
The Campus 00s NFT collection was inspired by the company’s dedication to innovation, according to the official statement. The maximum number of Trefoil Flower Mint Passes associated with a product is 4,500.
Digital art collectors must purchase the Flower Mint NFT via public sale for 0.25 ETH, which is equal to $435, in order to exchange it for a real pair of sneakers. The young NFT art sensation FEWOCiOUS, who gained notoriety by selling his life narrative through NFTs for a staggering $2.1 million, produced the limited edition footwear with flashy brilliant ribbon-style shoe laces.
Prominent collectors in the field were drawn to the digital artist’s works because of their fusions of pop art, surrealism, and avant-garde. “Hello, I’m Victor (FEWOCiOUS) and This Is My Life,” begins the description of the renowned $2.1M NFT collection, with a very similar greeting stamped on the FEWOCiOUS official Twitter handle. The audience was equally intrigued in the young transgender artist’s narrative.
Can Nike be outrun by Adidas?
In fact, collaborating with an established NFT artist could provide Adidas the advantage it needs to succeed with their bi-dimensional footwear. This phase has already been finished by its rival Nike, who launched RTFKT, a subsidiary for next-generation footwear. After LeBron James had two strong nights against the Golden State Warriors recently, RTFKT’s price has just risen.
Nike made headlines in the cryptocurrency world in 2022, selling more than $185 million worth of NFTs. Nike’s physical Air Force 1 NFT shoes first appeared in March 2023 and were rapidly sold out, despite the NFT mint being closely watched by irate NFT enthusiasts who encountered flaws.
On the other hand
- While the redemption period begins in August 2023, only September will see the first shipment of bi-dimensional Adidas Campus 00s.
- The physical shoe mints on OpenSea may only be available to customers in the United States, therefore it is currently unknown if Adidas will ship the NFT shoes to Europe.
By 2026, the market for metaverse clothing is anticipated to reach $6.61 billion.
